![]() ![]() Granted I believe you can get the cap up pretty quickly so long as you challenge each Chief Tamer in each town/city. ![]() I never exactly saw much complaint on the level cap. A lot of the balance changes was mostly to fix that lack of difficulty, which later led to having the uncap stats option as a lot of people liked using the system to overpower their monsters. Even with the addition of the respect system and level cap it didn't stop the monsters I raised later from being able to do substantial damage to monsters on significantly higher levels than the ones I was using. ![]() As someone who did quite a lot of experimentation with it in the Early Access, it was very easy to make very broken easy win monsters before all of the limitations that were included later. :)Īs you progress through the game you'll be able to have a lot more freedom with how exactly you want the stats to pass down onto the monster. I knew of the tamers & ranks, I thought it was there to keep you from overleveling and always feel weaker then "x coming boss." Yeah about breeding I forgot where I saw tha tbut its really cool how you can crossbreed and change looks according to your own tastes. Even got lost a few times (which is great, so much to explore and enjoy, I like it) haha. Mostly was exploring and catching 'mons I liked. While the level cap may seem restricting at first there's enough Chief Tamers down the line that the level cap is much higher than the levels of end game monsters, so you will probably not have to worry about not being able to overlevel with a single monster to make up for less party members. It's versatile enough that you can effectively give your monsters the best stats you can pass onto it (even higher with the stat cap disabled), pass down whichever moves you want onto it, and customize its appearance to your liking (and yes, that includes if you like its vanilla design, it's possible to keep that vanilla design). Unlike Pokemon, breeding in this game is the bread and butter for the majority of the games mechanics. Made me laugh that we could ride the Walrus early game. "They dont respect you enough (to level up past LV10)" XD I know of the option allowing for un-limiting stats ceiling, Ill stick to that for now I guess. EDIT: The lore reason for level cap too was kinda funny. Besides you already gain less and less per level diff (or maybe its just based off enemy level/specie). ![]() Here lets do a middleground thing then: Lets say "past the (arbitrary level cap) of a current rank, divide EXP gains by 2 for the given 'mons. If I want to make a dark-only game, as I often gravitate to, with as little mons as possible, I feel its needlessly constraining the player to force a level cap. I could prob have tried with Cyndaquil too (even if it would have been harder). If I like X/Y/Z 'mons and want to do the whole game with these, and lets say they are not good or meta (whatever), I should STILL be able to push through with dedications and working around things, even if still at a disadvantage.įor ex: (though a weird one) I remember soloing Pokemon Silver (DS vers.) with Feraligatr. Instead of giving us freedoms, to do our own types of runs, it kinda drains the fun of choice. ![]()
