![]() Both do platform synch through Apple iCloud so you don't even notice it is happening. I've been playing around with SEE and Moneywiz, and both seem to use a fundamentally different architecture. This architecture explains why they need to charge a relatively high subscription fee (to pay for the centralised servers), why platform synch is so slow, clunky and unreliable (because everything has to clunk through their servers), and probably explains why they are no longer able to provide Open Banking support (even though their Direct Access provider Saltedge supports Open Banking) and why they cannot use Yahoo Stocks API (even though all their competitors can) because the data providers won't allow third party server relay. I've been a long time user of Banktivity (and iBank before) but suspect that IGG have gone down the wrong evolutionary route in their system architecture and need a fundamental re-write to keep up with their younger competitors.įrom reading their blog, it seems that they rely on their centralised (and not cheap) servers to feed all online data to our local apps and run iOS/Mac platform synch. There is no "Reset Database" option that I could find. The delete process took a minimum of 3 mouse clicks / button presses. You can see all transactions and delete them all at once, but you then have to delete each account one by one. Which brings me to my next pain - there is no obvious way to delete an account. So by trial and error I had to import everything see if that fitted then delete everything and try again. This means that to do a contra payment eg an inverse payment (income into an expense account as a refund) is not at all straightforward. The schedule of accounts (aka categories) are all income or expense. Can't select a default option for accounts to be imported and then modify these for the exceptions, so lots of repetitive tasks in this tiny window. Import is done with a tiny modal window that can't be expanded. I have spent the day playing with MoneyWiz 2021 and I've given up with it. As most of the securities I hold I am updating only once a month and the three foreign currency rates are quickly done manually I will wait until my Banktivity subscription finishes I will then swap UNLESS Banktivity by then supports ( again ) Direct Access for European Banks ( something Moneywiz does fantastically but not See Finance ). Result: would be a go for me but I didn't change as I had already paid for a Banktivity subscription which I do not want to waste. The UI is almost like Banktivity so no big change here. I had only problems with two accounts ( very small problem ) and more importantly: my investment holdings showed up 100% correct. SeeFinance on the other hand has a fantastic QIF file import feature allowing several files to be imported at the same time. I ended up with numerous accounts completely out of balance and more importantly none of my investment holdings did show up.Result: A no go for me ! ![]() Moneywiz can only handle them individually. With Moneywiz I had huge problems when migrating my data using the Banktivity generated QIF files. I am using Banktivity as well for several years and after they introduced recently the subscription plans I started exploring other alternatives: Is it my fault being a European? That IEX is nonsense for me. Yes I have contacted their customer support, but they just seem completely uninterested in me. I would really prefer a personal finance app, however not if it does the same customer hating things like Banktivity. This didn’t work either: a couple of my securities prices didn’t download. According to Macmostvideo there’s a work around with Google sheets. ![]() Numbers? - doesn’t update the security quotes for me. I have read in some of the other threads that some of you also aren’t completely satisfied with Banktivity these days.also I have read that some of you have some suggestions to alternatives. What do you think are the best options instead of Banktivity? I’ve only downloaded the csv-files and as said the security quotes. I have never done the Direct Access, I think it’s risky to give out your online bank information. Especially after already having payed approx. Now they offer you various subscriptions and I’m not very interested in those. For me this is enough to move away from Banktivity, especially since I will be investing in several more securities. But mid June 2020 the security quotes were no longer updated, I had then only my stocks on the Stockholm stock exchange (Nasdaq Stockholm). I’ve been using Banktivity 7 since end of 2019 and have been relatively satisfied with it. ![]()
